The life story of Omega 3

The past, present, and future  of Omega 3 fatty acids :

What are Omega-3 fatty acids?

Omega 3 is one hot topic in the 21st century.

Let’s understand what it is exactly and where it all started. Omega 3 are polyunsaturated fatty acids, which offer numerous benefits for physical and mental health. These fatty acids are a group of 3 fatty acids found in a lot of plant and animal sources.

These are essential fatty acids that the human body needs. But the human body cannot generate these fatty acids on its own. So, we have to consume them in the form of food and supplements that will give us a good dose of the nutrient.

PAST:

Almost 100 years ago, essential fatty acids were discovered by
George and Mildred Burr.

Omega -3s have a very interesting story. Although they were discovered nearly 100 years back, the fact that omega 3 consumption has health benefits came into the picture much later, around 1968.

Jorn Dyerberg, a professor and a doctor was the first person
to talk about the advantages of Omega -3.

He was curious about the fact that the Eskimos had a lesser risk of heart diseases and started investigating further. Taking a look at their diet made him understand that they were consuming a high-fat diet. But, on the other hand, a high-fat diet is associated with more diseases. That’s when Mr. Jorn Dyerberg, (who is also considered the father of omega -3 movement ) went into a more detailed examination of the blood samples of the Eskimos. It helped them understand that it is because of the consumption of omega -3 that Eskimos had a lesser risk of heart diseases.

PRESENT:

At present most of us know about the fact that Omega 3 can boost our overall health.

It does so much good to our bodies. Omega 3 has a darling, DHA that helps us build our organs. The role of Omega 3 starts even before we are born, it starts when we are in our mother’s womb. This is the reason why pregnant women and their babies need Omega 3. Omega 3 helps us build our organs and most importantly the brain. The brain needs Omega 3 for its formation, development, and functioning.

  • Omega 3 plays a vital role in lowering blood pressure.
  • Mood elevation can happen because of Omega 3, it also helps us to improve the symptoms of depression.
  • Since the brain is made of Omega 3, it also needs Omega 3 for its maintenance.
  • Omega 3 helps us prevent dry eyes.
  • It aids in weight loss as consumption of Omega 3 can make you feel full for a longer time.
  • Helps us with liver fat.
  • Omega 3 can help people with arthritis by reducing the stiffness of joints.
  • Omega 3 is a multi-tasker and contributes to the wellness of many organs in the body.

Vegan Omega has its own set of advantages compared to fish oil Omega.

The Omega-3 derived from fish oil has a fishy aftertaste which most of us don’t enjoy.

Currently, there is a huge shift in the world towards vegan Omega which we are loving and appreciating.

FUTURE:

Fish oil Omega comes with a ton of side effects.

The present and the future are all about sustainability.
Choosing Vegan Omega which offers more advantages compared to the supplement from animal sources would be a smart choice.

We can avoid all the ill effects that animal sources of Omega show and we all together can contribute to the planet’s sustainability. “All we got is one Earth and it’s our responsibility to take care of the planet’s health along with ours.” So, it’s my request to everyone reading this blog to make a wise decision of choosing vegan Omega over others.
